What is Ctrl Sync Cloud (Nextcloud)?

Ctrl Sync Cloud is a hybrid private cloud solution that gives you the privacy of owning your own hardware with the convenience of secure remote access.

It’s built on the open-source Nextcloud platform, customized and optimized by Ctrl Sync for simplicity, security, and reliability. In the interface and Docs, you may see the name “Nextcloud” — it refers to the same system.

You get:

  • Your own device — a small, powerful server that lives in your home or office.
  • Private, zero trust connectivity — powered by our FRPS tunnel service, so you can securely access your files from anywhere without being an IT expert.

With Ctrl Sync Cloud:

  • You own the hardware, you own the data — nothing leaves your control.
  • We can’t access your system without your explicit permission, and big tech stays out entirely.
  • You get full guidance for setup and use, but you remain in charge.

Because it’s a zero trust model, we cannot log in and make changes for you — that’s your responsibility as the owner. But don’t worry — we provide clear instructions and updates so you can easily keep your system secure.

How We’re Different

Other providers often take one of two approaches:
1. Hardware-only — You buy a device, but it’s up to you to figure out how to make it securely available outside your home network.
2. Cloud-only — You pay for storage space on someone else’s servers, which means your data lives in their data centers under their terms.
